About Domain Collections

K uses the Collection feature to manage Data Domains and sub-domains.

As a default setting, K has pre-created a Collection Type called Domain. Each sub-domain, is a type of Instance.

Only Data Governance Managers and K Admin users have the ability to create new sub-domain instances.

After a new sub-domain instance has been created, anyone can tag a data asset to the sub-domain

Domains

  • A Data Domain is a high-level category of your data and should be easily understood by all users of K (including business users)

  • Common Domain categories are functional types (e.g. Customer, Finance, Operations) or business silo/franchise (e.g. Division A, Division B)

  • Domains should be created at the organisational level. If a more specific team-based type classification is required (e.g. sub-domain), then teams should request their K Data Governance Manager/Admin to create a new Collection
