Once you create a Collection, you create instances to fill out the collection.
Each instance is then linked to the relevant data items. You can then link those instances to Data Items manually or via rules.

A pop up box will appear allowing you to select an eligible data item.

Search for the Data Item’s Profile Page.
Click + ADD and a pop up will appear allowing you to select an eligible data item.

Select the collection instance you would like to link to the data ite.
If you cannot find the data item, ask your Data Governance Manager or Data Manager to ensure the collection settings and instance settings has been created correctly to allow your data item type is eligible to be linked.

Linking rules are a great way to automatically link data items to a collection using business rule written in a regex format (aka Regex Rule). They can create consistency and help save manual time and effort. Data items that no longer meet the Regex Rule will automatically be de-linked from the collection.
Select Platform Settings in the side bar
In the pop-out side panelclick under Collections, click on Collections Instance linking
Click on a (Non automated) Collection from the list. This takes you to the Collection page.
Click Add Instance
New Linking Rule
Complete the form and click Add

Link your data asset to the new instances you’ve just created. There are two ways you can link your data items.
